Why the Asset Was in High Demand

Permian Basin Exposure

The Permian Basin continues to attract capital due to:

  • stacked pay zones
  • strong production performance
  • ongoing operator activity

Eddy County remains a core area for development.

High-Quality Operator

The wells were operated by Devon Energy, a well-established operator with a strong reputation in the basin. Operator quality often plays a key role in buyer confidence when evaluating AFE opportunities.

Attractive AFE Economics

AFEs in this region are frequently sought after due to:

  • relatively short payout periods
  • exposure to new drilling activity
  • participation in large-scale development programs

These characteristics contributed to competitive interest from buyers.

Auction Performance

The package received significant attention during the auction process, resulting in:

👉 Sale for more than 100% of the net AFE cost

This outcome highlights the benefit of exposing development opportunities to a competitive market of qualified buyers.

The Advantage of Auctioning AFE Packages

AFE opportunities can be difficult to price in private transactions due to variability in development expectations.

By utilizing a competitive auction environment, sellers can:

  • attract multiple interested buyers
  • allow the market to determine value
  • reduce reliance on a single negotiated offer
